A tool for oil painters, live on the Apple App Store. Photograph a color, from the world or a reference, and Impasto returns the recipe to mix it: which tubes from the palette, in what ratios.

The mixing runs on a spectral model, the pigment physics paint manufacturers use. Each of about fifty pigments has its published reflectance curve and its catalog number, so blue and yellow make a true green rather than the muddy gray a screen color-picker would predict. A painter marks the tubes on the taboret, and every recipe remains inside that set.
A built-in Paint Expert answers at the easel the way a studio instructor would: why a green turns muddy, which medium keeps a glaze open for an hour, how two reds differ. It draws on a curated knowledge base of pigment behavior, color theory, mediums, and traditional technique.
A training mode sets a target color and grades the eye against it, free practice or a guided diagnosis of what reads too warm, too dull, or too dark, so mixing sharpens with reps.
